Create "virtual / alias" network interfaces with the Virtual Server's IP addresses
Hello.
I'm testing Debian 10 on OVH instances. The differences in network config between Debian 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 are pretty discouraging. And cloud-init forces several parameters, it doesn't help.
I couldn't get a clear answer on the best practice to manually add failover IPs.
Are you planning to make it automatic ? This was pretty well managed by Virtualmin, until Debian 8, but not since 9.
Here's the method I used (would you please have an advice about it ?) :
In the file /etc/network/interfaces :
eth0 & eth1 DHCP
auto eth0:0 iface eth0:0 inet static address xx.xx.xx.xx netmask 255.255.255.255
auto eth0:1 iface eth0:1 inet static address yy.yy.yy.y netmask 255.255.255.255
include interfaces.d/*
Kind regards,
François
