This only works if the database server has /etc/hosts entries matching the ipnumner and hostname or if reverse dns is setup correctly.
I would suggest to add two grants in mysql per host, one based on hostname and one based on ip or only use the ip based one.
Benefits:
- it will not break when reverse dns stops working or does not match the hostname anymore.
- you can disable dns resolving by mysql daemon completely when you are looking for performance improvements
- if you don't rely on reverse dns, you don't have to maintain the /etc/hosts file of the mysql server.3.0.1 Finalhttps://git.ispconfig.org/ispconfig/ispconfig3/-/issues/171Allow mailbox users to login to the controlpanel2011-09-12T12:19:26ZJustin AlbstmeijerAllow mailbox users to login to the controlpanelso they can:

Most of my webmail users are already accustomed to be able to change their own server-side mail filers.
As ISPconfig, does not support or rely on options like sieve, it would be nice if they could login to the control panel to change their filter rules.
The "Custom Rules" might be a little too advanced for a mailbox user, so it should not be showed preferably.

- I have tested courier.. it just does not compare to the speed of cyrus.. try opening a +30.000 message mailbox or search in it.
- sieve is great.. the combination of squirrelmail and avelsieve rocks.. thunderbird also has a sieve plugin.
I have setup ispconfig with cyrus and saslauthd.. works fine.
As ispconfig does not support cyrus yet, I let cyrus create the mailbox on initial login.
Here the config changes:
/etc/postfix/main.cf
virtual_transport = cyrus
/etc/postfix/master.cf
cyrus unix - n n - - pipe
user=cyrus argv=/usr/lib/cyrus-imapd/deliver -r ${sender} ${recipient}
/etc/imapd.conf
virtdomains: yes
defaultdomain: localhost.localdomain
autocreatequota: 2000000
/etc/pam.d/imap
auth required pam_mysql.so user=ispconfig passwd=xxxx host=xxxx db=dbispconfig table=mail_user usercolumn=email passwdcolumn=password crypt=1
account sufficient pam_mysql.so user=ispconfig passwd=xxxx host=xxxx db=dbispconfig table=mail_user usercolumn=email passwdcolumn=password crypt=1
---
tested mail delivery to main email adres and aliases, works
---
Things to be done:
- add support to create mailbox
- add support to set and change quota
- add support to delete mailbox
- add option to leave filter settings to mail client (hide filter options in ispconfig) or to add sieve support to ispconfig.
Hope you will consider this.
