improve multiserver detect on update

- adds interactive detection so that the user is warned when their
installation is unsupported so that they may decide to continue
if they are certain
- adds a final message if multiserver slaves are not detected so
the user is prompted to use CTRL-C to abort
- also attempts to prevent breaking the installaion by using the
original detection rather than re-detecting
