auth.log format in 3.1 - put timestamp first
Can I request we switch around the format of the log entries in auth.log. Fail2ban can monitor this log file, and fail2ban expects a date or timestamp to come first, followed by the log entry. Currently the auth.log file has the date at the end of the string which isn't really the norm with log files.
Should simply need to change line 265 to:
$authlog = date('Y-m-d H:i:s') . ' Successful login for user \''. $username .'\' from '. long2ip($ip);
and also line 303 to:
$authlog = 'date('Y-m-d H:i:s') . ' Failed login for user \''. $username .'\' from '. long2ip($ip);
Thanks
